Articles
Over the years, the majority of articles I have written were as a ghostwriter; however, every once in a while, I would sign my name to an article, especially when I had a reoccuring column in a blog or newspaper/magazine/ezine. Some of the reoccuring columns were with MondayMonday Network, Runway Magazine, and the Pet Gazette, to name a few.
I love article writing because it is another way for me to continually learn, research, and update my knowledge, especially around contemporary topics.
Academic Papers
A short article written this year (2025) for a writing class centered around news articles. I focused on how the tariffs being threatened against Canada would affect students. In addition, the article focused on how some Western Univeristy students were feeling around the US/Canada political tension.
In 2018, I began writing for a blog that was founded by a group of American feminists and journalists. Our goal was to challenge things that were happening in society and was focused on political science topics. I was the only Canadian invited to contribute.
This article was my introduction to the blog and was a way to wet my writing quill on topics that I feel passionately about.
After the tragedy of Christchurch, New Zealand in 2019, I wrote an opinion piece on the spillover of the rhetoric that was being promoted by Trump's presidency and policies around Muslims and Muslim countries.
This opinion pieces was originally published with the blog, Social Overload.
While this is more of a personal essay, it is an important critique of my own prejudices and how I have to challenge them on a regular basis. In addition, it explores power and privilege and how we, as white feminists, often perpetuate it. An earlier piece than my academic paper on Othering Effects, this is a more intimate piece about my own failings and how I feel that I, and my fellow feminists, can stand in solidarity with other marginalized groups.
